Summer Research Internship in Developmental Science at NYU
Study developmental psychology at NYU, in an internship co-sponsored by four laboratories under the direction of Dr. Karen Adolph (NYU Action Lab), Dr. Gary Marcus (NYU Center for Child Language), Dr. Marjorie Rhodes (Conceptual Development and Social Cognition Lab), and Dr. Athena Vouloumanos (NYU Infant Cognition and Communication Lab).
The internship is a unique opportunity for students to gain research experience in exciting and collaborative labs, while enjoying a fun filled summer in the heart of Greenwich Village in New York City. Summer interns will get hands-on research experience in areas of Developmental Science such as language and cognitive development, social cognitive development, music cognition, or perceptual and motor development. Interns will be working in state of the art labs and/or museums, where they will learn about all stages of the research process including developing ideas, creating stimuli, scheduling and running participants, coding and analyzing data, and presenting research findings.
When? The internship runs for 9 weeks from May 30 to July 31, 2011, and the schedule is approximately 35 hours a week including some days of the weekend.
Who can apply? The internship is open to all undergraduate students and recent graduates. It is particularly suited for students considering graduate school in linguistics, cognitive science, developmental, or cognitive psychology. This is a volunteer position and we encourage students to apply for funding from their home university or other funding sources for which they might be eligible.
