Summer Internship at North Shore-LIJ

Summer Research Internship Program

Addiction Services Research

at North Shore Health System

 About Us:

Center for Addiction Services and Psychotherapy Interventions Research is a research group within North Shore-LIJ Health System focusing on assessing and treating problem drinking and other drug use.  We investigate how psychotherapy and technology based interventions work and what new interventions can help treat problem drinking and other substance abuse problems. We examine how technology impacts mental health and how best to use technology as a medium for substance abuse interventions. We just moved to North Shore-LIJ from Columbia University so our website is not finished but you can obtain more on our ongoing studies here: www.caspirnyc.org

CASPIR is currently seeking interns for the summer of 2015 to work on research studies.  Each intern’s work will primarily consist of conducting literature searches and creating summary reports, data entry and cleaning, updating our web-presences and blogging and social media. We often hire our interns and our RAs have gone on to top PhD programs in clinical psychology.

Qualifications:

We are looking for 2 interested undergraduates who can commit to at least 2 days a week for 8 weeks (June to early August).  This is an unpaid internship.  Candidates should have completed at least 1 year of college coursework in psychology, sociology, premed, social work, or other applied science.

We will be accepting applications from April 1st – 28th, but may stop accepting applications sooner if we have found suitable candidates.

To Apply:

Interested undergraduates should send a cover letter and résumé to Tiffany Chapman at: TChapman@nshs.edu.
