Vanderbilt Music Cognition Lab research staff positions open

The Vanderbilt Music Cognition Lab (https://medschool.vanderbilt.edu/music-cognition-lab/) seeks to fulfill two open Research Analyst staff positions.

Our Lab is a fast-paced and exciting environment that engages students from a wide range of Vanderbilt undergraduate and graduate programs, and also serves as the hub of the Program for Music, Mind & Society at Vanderbilt (https://www.vanderbilt.edu/musicmindsociety/), a campus-wide initiative.

RA-II

The Research Analyst-II will work under the supervision of Dr. Miriam Lense, PhD (Department of Otolaryngology, Vanderbilt University Medical Center). This individual will provide support for research in the Vanderbilt Music Cognition Lab with a particular focus on music and social engagement in infants and children with and without autism. Responsibilities include recruitment of participants, data coordination and entry (Redcap), video preparation and coding, data analysis, and general study coordination/maintenance. The candidate will work directly with participants and their families to assist with study protocols including administering measures and questionnaires, eye-tracking, and video and acoustic analysis. According to experience, opportunities to contribute to study design, data interpretation, and analysis. Prior experience with child development research and/or working with children with autism is highly preferred. RA-III

The Research Analyst-III will work under the supervision of Lab Director Reyna Gordon, PhD (Department of Otolaryngology, Vanderbilt University Medical Center). This individual will be responsible for implementation, coordinating, troubleshooting, and data analysis of studies on rhythm and language skills in children and adults using behavioral assessments, neuroimaging (EEG), and genomic approaches. The RA-III will work collaboratively with students, staff, and the PI to carry out a series of ongoing studies and plan new studies that investigate the biological basis of music and speech and test the impact of music training on language skills. Prior experience with music cognition or language development research preferred; prior experience with EEG and/or Genomic research a plus.
