A FULL-TIME RESEARCH ASSISTANT is sought by Dr. Sophia Choukas-Bradley in the Adolescent Social Development Lab of the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Choukas-Bradley will be joining the Department of Psychology faculty in September 2017 and is seeking a full-time Research Assistant to begin September 1. The lab aims to understand interpersonal influences on adolescent development, with special emphases on peer and social media influences on teen girls’ sexual behaviors and body image. A combination of longitudinal survey-based data collection and experimental paradigms will be used to achieve these aims. Data will be collected primarily in middle and high school classrooms. Additional projects will involve data collection in the lab with adolescent and emerging adult participants.
The individual who fills this position will be involved in all aspects of the research process and general administrative duties related to day-to-day lab operations, including coordinating multiple studies, overseeing undergraduate RAs on data collection and entry, recruiting schools and individual participants, collecting data in middle and high school classrooms and in the lab, managing data entry, and assisting with IRB management and grant applications. A Bachelor’s degree, prior research experience in a psychology or related lab, and a driver’s license are required. This position also requires a high degree of flexibility and maturity, strong attention to detail, and outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills. Opportunities for training and involvement in preparing manuscripts for publication and other professional development opportunities will be available. This position is ideal for a highly motivated individual interested in gaining research experience prior to graduate school in psychology or related fields.
