This position will be responsible for:

  • Communicating in person, over the phone and via email with parents, youth, and community partners about ongoing studies.
  • Maintaining study documents, patient and participant files, and assisting principal investigators by providing feedback on study procedures and relevant site-based information.
  • Performing literature searches, summarizing information and data, assisting with analysis and scientific writing for journal articles on topics related to substance abuse, LGBT health, eating disorders prevention, and other topics important to adolescent health.
  • Serving as teaching assistant for SPSS workshop in Adolescent Medicine fellows’ biostatistics course, which includes assisting fellows during the workshop, providing one-on-one help with homework outside of class as needed, and aiding in lesson plan development.
  • Managing website for course Sexuality and Public Health at Harvard Chan School.
  • Helping develop and submit grant applications and managing funded grants.
  • Managing study data and documentation, including completed surveys, informed consent forms, staff training logs, IRB correspondence, and travel and study expenses and reimbursements.
  • Assisting with administrative tasks and other projects as needed, including education initiatives and outreach to schools and community partners.

To qualify, you must have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in public health, education, psychology, or other social sciences field and 1 year relevant work/research experience.
  • Experience and interest in adolescent health, public health, psychology, sexual orientation and gender identity, substance abuse, eating disorders prevention, and statistical methods preferred.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent writing skills essential, professional writing and editing experience preferred
  • The ability to maintain participant data confidentiality and adhere to study protocol.
  • Experience and comfort using: computer applications (Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.), statistical software (SPSS for statistical analysis, etc.) and website management tools.
  • The ability to take initiative, work without direct supervision, multi-task, work on multiple projects with changing deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Safe driver record and access to a car.
  • Commitment of two years.
