Research Assistantships with the Center for Educational Improvement

The Center for Educational Improvement, a non-profit organization focused on compassion and heart centered learning, is seeking one or two virtual research assistant(s) to help with two short term projects: (1) describing and identifying the impact of transformative school leadership on the cognitive development, social skills, and well-being of children, and (2) writing foundation proposals to promote cultivating happiness in schools through mindfulness, movement, and meditation. For #1: At this phase, the research will include assisting with background research (literature reviews) and helping to write and edit newsletter articles and reports, and for #2: the research will involve gathering background research and developing and submitting foundation proposals.

Expectations are that the RAs will be available for 3- 4 months, with 5 hours a week for each project. RAs will receive mentoring, bylines for eNews articles (see our HeartMind eNews) that are circulated to a database of over 17,000 educators, and acknowledgments in publications, including any research reports, articles, or books we are developing.

Qualifications: Graduate research experience in education, psychology, or sociology; excellent writing skills; and potentially experience writing and submitting foundation proposals.

Start Date: March 2024.

Payment: Hourly; To be determined based on skills and experience.

Interns and Research Assistants – Center for Educational Improvement

The Center for Educational Improvement, in collaboration with our partners at Yale University’s Program for Recovery and Community Health, is seeking 2-3 interns or research assistants to begin either this spring or in the summer 2023.  These positions will help advance our Compassionate School Leadership Academy, a research project funded by the U.S. Department of Education to address equity, diversity, and children’s mental health and well-being. Interns and RAs will have opportunities to conduct background research, problem solve with project researchers and evaluators, and be engaged in CEI’s related activities regarding early learning, anti-racism, and mindfulness. CEI is also providing technical assistance to the National Indian Education Association and needs assistance in analyzing qualitative data and writing up a final research report.  Interns and RAs will also help to develop articles for our monthly HeartMind eNews distributed nationally to over 10,000 subscribers, as well as.

Virtual internships and research assistantships include 5-15 hours per week, with a minimum commitment of 3-4 months.

Qualifications. Excellent writing skills. Preference will be given to candidates with research experience. Interns: an undergraduate degree in psychology, early childhood education, or related fields. RAs: Currently enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program in developmental or cognitive psychology.

The Neural Dynamics of Control Laboratory (www.NDCLab.com) with the Center for Children and Families at Florida International University seeks a full-time study coordinator/lab manager with administrative/executive assistant skills. Location for the position is flexible: either on-site in Miami, FL or fully remote. This individual will support and manage a multi-year NIMH R01 grant, including: participant recruitment and scheduling; managing IRB amendments; and drafting and revising study protocols. There is a free virtual workshop on ways to obtain clinical and research experiences to prepare for formal Research Assistant jobs, and doctoral programs on Monday 12/5 at 12pm. Mental health app ready for testing – looking for interns

Internship Opportunity for 10 Students 

We are looking for graduate students and undergraduate juniors/seniors to work with us to test the functionality and content  of the app.

5+ hours a week – small weekly Stipend Available  

Test a newly developed mental health app – 

purpose is to prevent mental illness and foster a “more positive ‘inner’ 

relationship with Self,” leading to richer, healthier relationships with others. 

Internship is virtual. 

Includes weekly 1 hour team meeting on Zoom. 

Can lead to involvement with future research projects.
