Paid summer research opportunity for undergraduates at NYU

We are excited to launch a new NIH-funded summer program in Communicative Sciences and Disorders at New York University called Summer Health Academic Research Experience in Communication Sciences and Disorders (SHARE-CSD). This program is a paid, 6-week summer research experience for undergraduate students from backgrounds typically underrepresented in STEM and health fields. Students receive housing and travel in addition to a stipend. Students from any related discipline who are interested in learning more about CSD are welcome to apply.

The program includes (1) intensive, mentored summer research experience, (2) academic and career development training, and (3) long-term continued peer and faculty mentoring and community building.

During the program, participants may engage in research on topics such as speech production, language learning, stuttering, and swallowing across the lifespan. The majority of hours in the program will be content activities related to research, as well as exposure to a broad range of topics in CSD and related disciplines through lab tours.

Participants also receive substantial academic and career preparation through workshops and one-on-one mentoring. Finally, this program seeks to build and sustain community, and we offer social events and team-building activities for our program participants and connections with undergraduate students participating in similar summer research programs at NYU.

If you are looking to learn more information, please take some time to review our website or email us (share-csd@nyu.edu). The application will open in January, but you can sign up on our website to be notified when it goes live.
